Elizabeth's Kitchen
HERE IS A STUDY OF ELIZABETH'S KITCHEN, WHICH WAS 32 YEARS OLD, and had supplied about 20,000 meals.. She is still thinking about flooring, which is the last things to choose and should be done last. This kitchen had 11' x 10' "L" shaped cabinets, and not enough of them. The inadequate drawer glides had given up, and the finish had been worn off. Like many kitchens of the last 35 years there had been no knobs or pulls, so the lacquer had absorbed lots of spaghetti sauce, finger oil, and dishwater. In interviewing her we found she entertains a lot, and felt closed off in the kitchen. There was a wall between the kitchen and dining room, we took out much of it and built a new pantry and peninsula, gaining about 40% more cabinet capacity, and virtually doubling the useful countertop area.
The old kitchen had a chopped up pantry, and more oven capacity was desired. The pantry was removed and an oven cabinet built. There is a new pantry on the formerly empty wall. The new pantry really expands storage and access. There were some minor electrical and texturing before adding the additional cabinets and counters.
Customer comment: "Why didn't we open that wall 25 years ago?"

Notice the two small drawers to the right of the range. We combined two into one, saving money and providing more space. We built roll outs in to maximize the space.
