We also use products made from sustainably farmed hardwoods. All of our woods come from plantations or forests with a completely renewable cycle of growth. In fact, some woods, such as lyptus and beech, come from forests specifically planted to reclaim damaged land. The end product is the lumber, but the interim benefits are a richer environment and a reduction of carbon dioxide and greenhouse waste.

"When I mentioned someone could remodel their kitchen in only five days, they'd be moderately interested," he said. "When I'd tell them we could save 80 percent of the material from going in the landfill, their interest was piqued."
